Skippered sailing charters in Croatia
Croatia is the Mediterranean’s most forgiving cruising ground: over a thousand islands, short distances, reliable summer weather and marinas everywhere. With me as your skipper you charter a boat from a licensed Croatian fleet (Split and Trogir are the usual bases) and simply enjoy the Adriatic - no Croatian license, VHF certificate or paperwork worries; that is my job.
The classic Dalmatian week (Split to Split, 7 days)
| Day | Route | Highlights |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Split / Trogir → Šolta or Milna (Brač) | Easy warm-up leg, first swim stop |
| 2 | → Hvar | Lavender hills, Pakleni islands, lively old town |
| 3 | → Vis | Farthest, quietest island - Stiniva cove, Blue Cave (Biševo) |
| 4 | → Korčula | Marco Polo’s walled town |
| 5 | → Mljet National Park | Saltwater lakes, pine forest (option: continue one-way to Dubrovnik) |
| 6 | → Šćedro / Bol (Brač) | Zlatni Rat beach, wine of Hvar’s south side |
| 7 | → Split | Morning sail home |
One-way Split → Dubrovnik is possible with most fleets for a fee - worth it if you want the walled city as your finale.
What a week really costs
| Item | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Yacht charter (per week, season-dependent) | €2,300 - €4,500 |
| Skipper service (me) | €180 - €220 per day |
| Fuel & marina fees | €300 - €500 per week |
| Tourist tax | ~€1.50 per person per day |
| End cleaning | per fleet terms |
Croatian marinas cost more than Greek harbours - I plan anchorages and town quays to balance the budget. Skipper’s meals covered by the crew, by charter custom.
Greece or Croatia - honest answer
Croatia: greener, tidier marinas, shorter hops, superb for first-timers and families. Greece: wilder, cheaper harbours, more variety of open-sea sailing, arguably better food-per-euro. I sail both; tell me what your group loves and I will say which fits - even if the answer costs me a booking. Compare with Greece charters or read the FAQ.
